It’s been a long wet winter, but at long last we are starting to get dry sunny days. One of the striking things here is the dramatic change from day to day. At the moment we are experiencing some days with sunshine and the temperature in the mid 20’s, others are grey, damp, windy and decidedly cool. Yesterday we had the gardeners in, and they spent the whole day clearing the weeds, and removing some of the plants that succumbed to the 18 month dry period. At the front of the Quinta the weeds have been cut back, and a new area is being prepared for the planting of olive trees. We will soon look out onto a huge olive plantation, much better than the overgrown area we used to see. Two recent storms have sent huge amounts of gravel and dirt down the road from the new house above us. This has deposited gravel and dirt all over the road, and across the car park. So I shall have to spend a couple of days clearing it up, and trying to stop it happening again.
Our first guests start arriving at the end of the month, so lots of work to do, cleaning the pool area, filtering the pool and setting out the chairs and shade items.
