This weekend we attended the first of the monthly Indonesian lunches which are held throughout the Winter, between Coja and Arganil. It is the first time that we have driven any distance from home since the fires in October. It was really shocking! From Tondela onwards along the IP3 nearly everything has been burned. All around Santa Comba Dao, down to the edge of Coja, and the views across valleys are all blackened trees. The other striking thing is that the rivers are virtually dry, it is a really serious problem. We have started to get some rain, but as yet nothing like enough to stop the drought. For anyone who has stayed here we are sorry to report that our neighbor’s dog Tobias died over the weekend, we will miss him.
