It is now nearly eight years since we came to Quinta Sao Domingos, during that time although we have done some pruning to one or two trees, we have never done anything major to the oranges. During the summer following my operation, we employed someone to look after the garden, they did a really good job, and said that the oranges needed pruning, but not until October. So this week they came, and not only have done the oranges, but most of the other trees in the garden. It has improved the view from our balcony considerably, and in fact makes many of the trees look a little bald. However we know that as soon as the Spring comes with warmer weather they will all sprout like mad.
At the beginning of the month when we were grape picking, we took two couples who were staying with us to help at one of the local vineyards. They had a really good time, and we will try to do the same again next year if any guests are interested.
